Furusawa Distillery (古澤醸造) has over 100 years of shochu-making history. Located on the Nichinan Coast in Miyazaki, Japan, the distillery flourishes in the warm, sunny climate. It is only here that dozozukuri kura, or traditional mud-wall storehouses, are still used.
This English-language brochure aims to promote the distillery’s products and methods to international visitors. It shares the mysterious process of Miyazaki shochu-making, including the divine koji that is produced only at Furusawa, and the intuition of the craftsmen who communicate with the yeast gods.
I worked with coordinator Otonau Inc. to transform Japanese-English translations into creative copy for the brochure.
